History

Allied Window is unique, in that it has been “born twice” as a storm window company.

It was originally born in 1950, as a manufacturer of standard aluminum storm windows and storm doors serving both residential and commercial markets.  In the mid-1980’s, the company began working on customer projects requiring special shapes and colors. Allied Window developed custom products to meet the needs of these new customers.  In doing so, we discovered a growing, nationwide opportunity for custom storm windows designed specifically for older and historic buildings.  That demand led the company to focus exclusively on custom storm window manufacturing, serving customers and projects across the country.

Today, Allied Window’s experience as a commercial and residential window manufacturer and contractor provides valuable insight when working with architects, specification writers, owners, developers, contractors, homeowners, and historic preservation specialists.

Our unique line of custom “invisible” interior and exterior storm windows are designed to blend seamlessly into the window opening – maintaining the historic aesthetic of the building – while improving energy efficiency, reducing sound and UV exposure, and protecting the original sash and frames.

What began with older homes has expanded dramatically to include historic and single-glazed buildings of all markets.  Completed projects include multiple adaptive re-use renovations, restored courthouses, city halls, churches, hotels, apartments, office buildings, schools, warehouses and factory buildings.  Additional projects include President’s homes and governor’s mansions, as well as historic university buildings, innumerable museums and museum houses.

Allied Window is improving the efficiency of historic buildings while helping to protect them and preserve their character for generations to come.
